SiMon revolutionizes the concept of a traditional monitor: instead of a single active process that is responsible for executing a transaction based on a specific request, it is a COBOL program active for each terminal that executes a transaction. In practice, each user launches his or her own monitor that verifies, through specific tables inserted in the monitor at the user group or single user level, the authorizations for connecting to the transactions and identifies the transaction to be recalled. The monitor initializes and enhances the communication areas of the programs and takes care of updating them, and takes care of consolidating the data or ROLLBACK.
